The Friends of Val Rahmeh-Menton invite you to a conference on "In vitro culture, biotechnology for plant production", by Emile LAGUNA, President of the Société d'Étude des Sciences Naturelles de Vaucluse.
For over fifty years, in vitro culture has been widely used for the production of plants of agronomic interest. This technique makes it possible to produce thousands of genetically identical, disease-free plants in a relatively short space of time. Many of the fruits we buy on the shelves are derived from plants propagated "in vitro", including strawberries, bananas, pineapples, apples and even vanilla! During this lecture, the history and current applications of this technique will be presented and illustrated by a slide show and a few culture tubes.
