NOEL FIELDING EXHIBITION
‘COWBOYS ON THE MOON’
From 23 August to 1 September 2025
Presented at the Podgorny Gallery
Opening reception on Saturday 23 August 2025 from 6pm to 9pm.
The Podgorny Gallery invites you to dive into "Cowboys on the Moon", the quirky and poetic universe of Noel Fielding, a cult figure of the British scene.
Between surreal humour and burst of colour his artworks transpose the energy now synonymous with his comedy and TV worlds onto canvas.
Noel Fielding’s universe is a playground where childlike imagination meets surreal absurdity. In the UK, he first rose to fame with the cult TV series The Mighty Boosh (1998–2009), co-created with Julian Barratt, blending comedy, music, and striking visual surrealism. He went on to create Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy (2012–2014), an even more psychedelic and experimental TV series, whilst also touring the globe with his stand up comedy, playing stages such as the Sydney Opera House and the O2 London arena reaching an even wider audience as co-host of The Great British Bake Off, one of the country’s most popular TV show.
Having studied Fine Art at Croydon University under Turner Prize nominee Dexter Dalwood, he has since exhibited his work in prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, the Saatchi Gallery, Somerset House and Tate Liverpool, among others.
Felding's now globally recognized TV and comedy universe populated with strange, naïve, and whimsical characters, finds its way onto his canvases with the same freedom: explosions of color, bold forms, and fantastical figures. His art carries the same playful, inventive energy, drawing on both the spontaneity of childhood and the sophistication of surrealism and dadaism.
The exhibition Cowboys on the Moon is a perfect example: two timeless symbols of collective imagination — cowboys, the heroes of adventure, and space travel to the moon, the ultimate exploration — brought together in an improbable setting. A combination that rekindles in all of us the taste for escapism and the ability to dream without limits, perfectly capturing the offbeat poetry of Noel Fielding.
Fielding’s painting Bubblegum Cats in the Cinema featured on the front cover of Time Magazine’s Culture Supplement. His best-selling book of artworks, The Scribblings of a Madcap Shambleton, was published by Canongate.
Fielding was more recently asked to collaborate with Fendi, with his colorful artworks featured throughout their entire winter collection.
