The fortified castle of Malmort valiantly defended centuries during the entrance of the Upper Roya: this structure today in ruins, quoted since the 13th century, was restored in the 17th century and played an important role in the revolutionary wars.
This feudal site of inaccessible aspect, which overhangs the Roya gorges by nearly 500 m, amply deserves a historical visit which will be enhanced by a splendid panorama on the villages of Saorge, Fontan and Bergue.
