By explicitly titling his new album "An Indian's Life", double bassist and composer Henri Texier brings to a fitting close a sort of informal phonographic triptych - begun in 1993 with "An Indian's Week" and continued in 2016 with "Sky Dancers" - making the Amerindian cause and, beyond that, the quasi-mythological figure of the "Indian", both the imaginary matrix and the poetic motor of his artistic gesture.
A major figure in European jazz for over five decades, Henri Texier embodies a certain idea of jazz that is free, generous and deeply rooted in the rhythms of the world.
A legendary double bassist, he has collaborated with some of the greatest names in jazz - from Don Cherry to Michel Portal - and has never ceased to reinvent his music with exacting standards and humanity.
For this exceptional concert, he performs in a trio with two top-flight musicians: Sébastien Texier, a saxophonist with expressive, inventive playing and a loyal travelling companion, with whom he forms a rare musical complicity.
Gautier Garrigue, a drummer with a powerful, subtle groove, brings fresh energy and rhythmic flexibility to this free, lyrical trio.
