





The Croix des Gardes, the ‘green lung’ of Cannes, offers a 360° panoramic view, with numerous footpaths and a fitness trail.
This forest (80 hectares), largely owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, is managed by the town of Cannes' Service des Espaces Verts.
Botanical features:
Mainly made up of Parasol Pine, Arbutus, Mimosa, Holm Oak and plants typical of the Mediterranean scrubland.
The mimosa (flowers from January to March) is one of the site's most emblematic species.

History: According to legend, in 1525, King François I installed a garrison of Swiss Guards, the elite of the royal army, at the top of the hill where the cross is located, to keep an eye on the sea and watch for suspicious boats.
