In 2023, the project to install a theatrical area intended for performances coordinated by the National Theatre of Nice prompted the prescription of a preventive operation, mainly focused on the complete excavation of the track.
This excavation has allowed us to update our knowledge of the original topography of this area of the Cimiez hill and the building's layout. The discovery of several pits containing abundant archaeological artifacts (ceramics, glass, metal) provides chronological information on the construction and occupation of the monument during the ancient and modern periods, as well as on the cultural characteristics of the local population during Antiquity.
Furthermore, while the building is well-known from an architectural standpoint, occasional observations and explorations have yielded some additional data in this area.
