For the first time, we are welcoming the author, painter and director Valère Novarina, who is one of the greatest contemporary poets, performed and studied throughout the world.
A true linguistic genius, he delivers a monumental spectacle. Ten virtuoso performers take on his unique language, and two talented musicians invent another language when words fail.
Over the course of 22 scenes, the voices are multiple, intersecting, and unfolding in space. On stage, everything is rhythmic, starting with life itself: pulsation, beat. It is with a fierce taste for comedy that Valère Novarina imagines his Characters of Thought. Devoid of proper names, they are reduced to what they do, in a more or less abstract manner. Among them are Jean Mangetout, The Unbalanced Man, The Infinite Novelist, The Living Man in Spite of Himself, The Actor Fleeing Others... and so many others.
Since language is everywhere, in all its forms, it is also present in Valère Novarina's paintings, projected on stage and which, in turn, express all the fantasy, insolence, and madness of this great artist. "I have great respect for reality, but I've never believed in it," he said in his latest work, La Clef des langues, published by P.O.L in 2023.
With Valentine Catzéflis, Aurélien Fayet, Manuel Le Lièvre, Sylvain Levitte, Liza Alegria Ndikita, Claire Sermonne, Agnès Sourdillon, Nicolas Struve, René Turquois, Valérie Vinci
And the musicians Mathias Lévy [violin, improvisation], Christian Paccoud [accordion]
