Discover the history of urban struggles in Marseille with Victor Collet. Join us at the Caïros bookshop for a discussion on his book "Du taudis au Airbnb" (From slums to Airbnb). An essential insight into the city's mutations and resistances.
Plunge into the heart of the transformations taking place in the Phocaean city during an exceptional evening at the Caïros bookshop. Victor Collet will present his book Du taudis au Airbnb, a hard-hitting investigation that traces the history of popular resistance to poor housing and gentrification. Through the prism of Marseille's struggles, the author analyzes how urban policies have shaped the city, from threatened working-class neighborhoods to the new faces of mass tourism. An indispensable exchange for understanding the social and political stakes of housing today. Victor Collet is a political science researcher and activist involved in right-to-the-city issues. His work focuses on the sociology of social movements and the history of working-class neighborhoods. Before turning his attention to Marseille, he became known for his research into the history of immigration and housing struggles, notably through his work on Nanterre. Through his writings, he documents the memory of collective mobilizations to prevent them from being erased by urban renewal projects.
