With humor and in the spirit of the commedia dell'Arte, this new creation from La Semeuse revisits the myth of Merlin.
The legend of Merlin has been revisited throughout the centuries, taking on varied and fascinating forms. An enigmatic advisor to King Arthur, a sort of eccentric Leonardo da Vinci in Disney stories, a son of the devil in Robert de Boron's medieval text, or even a mad king seeking refuge in the forest according to Geoffrey of Monmouth, Merlin is an essential figure in our collective imagination. But who is Merlin really? What do we know about his childhood? Who is Gwenddydd, his twin sister, whose existence was long hidden? What if Merlin were nothing less than a visionary scientist, manipulating the credulity of his contemporaries while mastering the secrets of chemistry, physics, astronomy, and even meteorology long before their time? With humor and in the spirit of masked play inspired by the commedia dell'Arte, this new creation from La Semeuse revisits the myth of Merlin by exploring it from a new angle.
