In October 2020, storm Alex ravaged the Roya valley. The battered inhabitants rallied round, licked their wounds and decided to erect a monument to their victory over the storm. This is how this monumental metal bee came into being, ready to take flight and symbolize a new beginning for the village.
Azziz was up to the challenge. It took him three weeks of uninterrupted work in his workshop in Pisa.
The masterpiece deserved a location where it could be seen by all Brigasques: the rocky promontory on the right bank of the vallon de Funtaure (Bouseille). The site was prepared and fitted out thanks to the hard work of a group of friends who, at the cost of much effort and under a blazing sun, brought this beautiful and crazy adventure to a successful conclusion.
In welcoming the giant bee, the Brigasques launched the idea of a major artistic project for their village and the whole of Terre Brigasque.... Each year, they decided to erect a giant sculpture to mark out a route to discover their territory. The second sculpture would be a Brigasque ewe.
