Main tasks
- Enforcement of parking regulations and traffic control, particularly in the vicinity of schools.
- Surveillance of the public highway and control of occupation of the public domain (markets, terraces, etc.).
- Enforcement of municipal by-laws, for example on cleanliness or town planning.
- Prevention and management of neighbourhood disputes.
- Supervision and security at sporting, cultural, community or formal events.
- Administrative tasks
The Municipal Police also provide essential administrative support
- Lost property: declaration and deposit.
- Drafting of by-laws (traffic, parking, removals, works, cultural or sporting events, etc.)
- Monitoring of impounded vehicles: notification, procedure and communication with owners
- Requests for late opening of public houses: receipt and transmission to the Mayor and the Gendarmerie for their opinion.
- A complementary role
- Through these various missions, the Municipal Police complements the State services and contributes to the peace and safety of all.

Since 1 October 2022, Municipal Police officers have been equipped with individual cameras. The purpose of these devices is to:
- Prevent incidents during interventions.
- Record offences and gather evidence to prosecute the perpetrators.
- Provide training and improve professional practices.
