After a decade in annual format, the OVNi Festival has become a Biennial. This event focuses on experiments in the artistic and technological perspectives of the moving image.
Its programming covers diverse fields of experimentation, from the cathode-ray image to artificial intelligence, via cinema, animation, VR and augmented reality.
The OVNi Biennial is a powerful extension of the lively fundamentals that drive it. Starting with the promotion of emerging artists, which today extends to the Mediterranean. A significant development is devoted to image education. To this end, residencies, workshops, masterclasses and public mediation are the focus of special attention and specific methodological support (concerning the visitor experience and accessibility for the visually and hearing impaired).
Another guiding principle is the desire to trace the underlying history of the media through exhibitions, screenings, Rencontres Art & Science events and various partnerships.
A new axis enables us to support creation through the production of works and assistance in writing projects, linked to Residencies, half of which are devoted to emerging artists. In addition, two prizes complete and precede this momentum: the PRIX international Cosmopolis and the Prix OVNi SUD Emergences (supported by patrons and the Cercle des Amis d'OVNi).
OVNi is a significant event in the Côte d'Azur cultural landscape, with an international aura that gives it a leading Mediterranean and European position.
