The 10th urban park in the heart of the city, Parc des Canebiers, was inaugurated on Saturday 21 September 2024. 30,000 m² of greenery in the city centre!
Completely transformed to provide more space for playing, walking, relaxation and peace and quiet for all, and also to bring more nature into the city: to create a space for well-being, a biodiversity refuge and a vast island of coolness, right in the centre of town!
At a time when biodiversity is under threat, this park is a refuge for flora and fauna along the Cagne ecological corridor. The park is a key component of the ‘Coulée bleue’ project in the Schéma directeur de la Cagne 2020-2040.
At a time when summer heatwaves are becoming increasingly frequent, the presence of this 30,000 m² ‘green lung’ right in the centre of town is a chance for the people of Cagne to get some fresh air and reconnect with nature.
Following on from the work to re-naturalise the Cagne, the park is now back in touch with the river's flowing waters, its flower-filled banks, its large sunny meadows, its majestic clusters of plane and white poplar trees and other fine shrubs.
It has been enriched by a diversity of plants and natural environments that encourage animal biodiversity and offer a variety of spaces to experience and discover.

A carbon sink: 130 new trees of 21 different species,
over 9,000 shrubs, perennials and ground cover, 3,500 seedlings and 14,000 m2 of seedlings
services: bike park, toilets, defibrillator, space for a food-truck
a 500m² shaded canisite where dogs can run free under the supervision of their owners
a 940m² microsite for sports enthusiasts: a table tennis table and a multi-sports pitch surrounded by low walls and benches
1,000 ml of footpaths for all: accessible to people with reduced mobility,
650 m of path around the perimeter where dogs on leads are permitted, 450 m of path at the foot of the slopes and through the meadows, 6 large connecting staircases through the terraces and 6 entrances with reception and information panels.
