Beautiful traverse between the hamlets of Castérino and Viévola through a superb pine and larch wood and the Ourne slope, an alpine pasture still occupied during the summer.
- Cross the bridge over the Peyrefique piste (b 367) opposite the Chamois d'or hotel.
- Follow the trail for 150m to marker 368, then turn right. At marker 366, start climbing towards the Baisse d'Ourne (2040m alt., marker 356), an alpine pasture still frequented by shepherds.
- Cross the track and start the descent towards Viévola. Pass waypoints 357 and 358. You arrive at the Viévola train station.
Tourism info: Viévola, with its railway station, was an important post office and crossroads during the boom in public transport. Today, only Italian trains stop here.
You can return by train from Cuneo to Ventimiglia, which stops here.
