Peynet's wall of lovers

This timeless fresco, painted on the façade of an old house on the street, is a must-see for newlyweds. Brightening up the street, it's a symbol of joie de vivre in Le Cannet.
Co-created by fresco artist Guy Ceppa in 1990, Peynet's Mur des Amoureux is a metaphor for love, symbolized by newlyweds soaring over the Garden of Eden inspired by the town of Le Cannet.
Raymond Peynet, honorary citizen of the town, painted this work in honor of all the newlyweds to whom he wanted to offer a poetic stopover on their honeymoon journey.
It was in 1942, in front of Valence's bandstand, that he imagined his little couple. In tribute to the lovers, his friend Georges Brassens wrote the famous song "les bancs publics".
