Porte du Signadour, dating from the 13th century, and the Place Antony Mars, built in 1832 on the old town wall, bear witness to the town's defensive and revolutionary history.
THE SIGNADOUR GATEWAY

The Signadour gateway (or porte du guetteur in Provençal) dates back to the 13th century. During the Revolution, it lost its majestic watchtower crown. Designed to keep an eye on the horizon in times of trouble, the tower became useless in 1789 and, what's more, ‘insulted revolutionary equality’.
