Some of our contemporaries have a phobia of spiders. However, until the early 20th century, spiders were considered lucky charms, as evidenced by numerous postcards.
It was after the First World War that spiders began to be portrayed in a negative light: devilishly hairy creatures, blood-sucking animals... Spiders were depicted with the faces of individuals considered harmful to society.
The museum informs visitors suffering from arachnophobia that they are in no danger during their visit. They may even leave with a new perspective on spiders, and there is no extra charge for this form of therapy!
