A meeting with Vanina Géré, about "Chantal Montellier. Irreducible", a book dedicated to Chantal Montellier, a feminist and committed comic book author.
Chantal Montellier is recognized as one of the leading figures in French-language comics. Her unique, feminist, critical, and politically engaged work draws us into dystopian worlds where a pervasive sense of unease, even violence, is in no way diminished by the artistic quality of her experimental and sensitive drawings. This book offers a comprehensive re-examination of her work, highlighting the diversity and richness of her inspiration, as well as the aesthetic qualities of her art, through a selection of previously unpublished pages and those from out-of-print albums. The book also includes numerous texts (some previously unpublished, others inaccessible), along with a series of interviews with artists and cultural figures about Montellier's influence on their careers.
Vanina Géré is an art historian and critic specializing in the role of women in contemporary art. She teaches art history and theory at the Villa Arson.
