Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, 1 boulevard de la Croisette, 06400 Cannes
A meeting to discuss, with invited guests, the creative and financial challenges of designing large-scale choreographic works.
While large numbers of performers are most often the preserve of ballets and major repertoire companies, they also allow today's choreographers to create new forms that can be deployed on large stages and appeal to very broad audiences.
Does choreographing for large numbers of performers require specific approaches and compositional methods? Does it imply the notion of a permanent troupe? What kind of economy and ecosystem should be implemented to enable its production and distribution?
This round table will invite prominent figures to discuss the artistic and economic challenges involved in creating large-scale choreographic works.
Expected participants include Guiomar Fernandez Troncoso, deputy director of the Spanish National Ballet, Brigitte Lefèvre, director of cultural institutions and director of dance at the Paris Opera (1995 to 2014), Tiago Guedes, artistic director of the Lyon Dance Biennale, and Martin Harriague, director of the Ballet Opéra Grand Avignon.

Organised in partnership with the National Dance Centre.

Free admission, subject to availability.
