Sacred chants from the Middle Ages
Step back in time to the sound of medieval chants, echoing magnificently in the monastery church!
This concert interweaves several of Christianity's religious currents and attempts to give them a common meaning: it tells of tolerance and listening.
More than a thousand years have passed since these hymns were composed, but we are surprised by the familiarity of these hymns of such diverse origins.
In fact, it brings together melodies intended to accompany the two great feasts of Easter and Christmas, as well as hymns to the Virgin, composed between the beginnings of Christianity and the end of the reign of Saint Louis.
It juxtaposes Eastern styles and modes with their Western heritage, highlighting here and there filiations and influences.
This program, conceived for three male voices "a cappella", presents music from the first Christian centuries, either in its original form and language, or integrated into the Gregorian tradition around the year 1000.
They affirm the enduring artistic expression of our civilization, and offer a rare opportunity to reconnect with our musical roots.
The "a cappella" formation is in the tradition of a time when instruments were banned from churches, and composers took advantage of reverberation and echoes to enrich the colors of the voices.

The "Le Bel Instant" ensemble comprises three lyric singers:
Pierrick BACHELIN (countertenor)
Olivier de NARNAUD (tenor and countertenor)
Eric CASSIMATIS (bass)

Let yourself be carried away by their songs...
