rue Sébastien Grandis, 06430 Tende
Tende's parish church is distinguished by its striking neo-Baroque style. Inside, vast canvases depict biblical scenes, with the village of Tende in the background.
Originally a simple oratory dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the building was enlarged in 1635, when the Capuchin fathers founded a convent on what is now Place des Écoles.
Largely destroyed during the Second World War, the convent and central altar disappeared, and the church was refurbished.
Today, a large bay window at the back of the church opens onto a magnificent mountain panorama.
