The Saint Sauveur chapel, formerly a belfry, was decorated by Théo Tobiasse on the theme "Life is a feast". Outside, the monument is enhanced by a mosaic highlighting the entrance and a sculpture, L'Oiseau de Lumière.
This ancient belfry adjoining Rue des Ardissons, named after one of Le Cannet's founding families who settled here as early as 1477, marks the entrance to the district. The date of construction of this ancient Cannet bell tower (or "Campanile") remains unknown, but is thought to date from the 17th century.
Saved from probable ruin, the chapel was restored in 1989. All that remained was to find a destination worthy of its historic past and in tune with its spiritual vocation. This was the concern of Tobiasse, a world-renowned contemporary artist, who opened the chapel to ecumenism and chose the theme "Life is a feast" to illustrate this renewal.
In the authenticity of his creative gesture, Théo Tobiasse vividly and poetically tells a universal story, designed to restore to this place an atmosphere conducive to meditation. Here, he translates life, festivity in fusion, deep nostalgia and the spirituality of the soul. Interwoven color structures this monumental composition. It refers to the warm tones of the earth and the infinite blue of the sky. The triumphant, anxious line establishes and sculpts lines of force where fullness and rupture mate.
