Parkinson's disease, a movement disorder, but not only that...
By Cristine Alves da Costa, pharmacist and director of research at the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM).
Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with progressive loss of motor skills, but also with other highly debilitating non-motor symptoms. Enormous progress has been made in understanding the causes of this disease, but the treatments available remain palliative. We will review the causes, diagnosis and treatments of this disease, as well as new therapeutic avenues emerging from current research.
