From March 4 to April 25, 2026, the Musée numérique Micro-Folie in Saint-Raphaël hosts the exhibition "Spécimens" by artist Jérémy Griffaud.
Through a series of works combining watercolor, 3D printing, video and virtual reality, the artist invites visitors to immerse themselves in a universe where science and imagination meet. The exhibition invites the public to question their relationship with the living world, and to discover a contemporary creation at the crossroads of traditional and digital techniques.
A dialogue between art and science
For centuries, observation of the plant and animal world has inspired scientists and artists alike. Tapestries, botanical plates and bestiaries bear witness to this fascination with living things.
With "Spécimens", Jérémy Griffaud extends this tradition by confronting it with today's tools. His large watercolors, with their organic, detailed forms, stand side by side with :
3D-printed sculptures,
films presented on multiple screens,
an immersive virtual reality experience.
Together, they form a veritable visual laboratory. The works combine scientific observation and imagination, giving rise to hybrid creatures, transformed plants and imaginary landscapes.
A creation in residence
A graduate of Pavillon Bosio - École Supérieure d'Arts Plastiques de la Ville de Monaco, Jérémy Griffaud is an artist from Nice renowned for his work combining pictorial gesture and digital technologies.
For two weeks, he worked directly in the exhibition space. There, he produced new large-format watercolors and designed sculptures using the fablab at the Centre Culturel's Cré@lab space. These creations are part of his research project entitled The Origin of Things, developed over several years and presented internationally.
His work examines the human imprint on living things and the relationship between nature and technology. Visitors are invited to explore these universes and become part of a sensitive, immersive experience.
A dialogue with works from the Micro-Folie collection
The exhibition is enhanced by a selection of some twenty digitized works from the Micro-Folie collection, including Albrecht Dürer's Rhinoceros and works by Marc Chagall.
The exhibition brings together contemporary creations and masterpieces from national and international museums.
