The Maeght Foundation is part of the great history of art and a story of family and friendship between Aimé and Marguerite Maeght, visionary art dealers, and their artist friends who were among the greatest masters of the 20th century.

The first independent art foundation in France, they conceived it in collaboration with the Catalan architect Josep Lluís Sert in 1964. The artists personally participated in its conception and realization, each appropriating a space of the future foundation.
