The Fondation Carmignac presents the exhibition Vertigo, curated by Matthieu Poirier, at the Villa Carmignac, on the island of Porquerolles off the coast of Hyères from April 26 to November 2, 2025.
Echoing the dizzying experience of the Mediterranean sun, mistral wind, waves and sea spray, as well as the immensity of the sky and the depths of the sea on the island of Porquerolles, the VERTIGO exhibition explores the links between the perception of natural phenomena and abstraction since the 1950s.
From Sandro Botticelli to Judy Chicago, via Michael Armitage, John Currin,
Loie Hollowell, Lisa Yuskavage, Lee Bul and Martine Gutierrez and Billie Zangewa, the exhibition combines major works from the Carmignac collection (Sandro Botticelli, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein) with exceptional loans (Louise Bourgeois / Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Mary Beth Edelson / TATE) and productions created specifically for the exhibition (France-Lise McGurn).
