Situated in a remarkable green setting at an altitude of 1,500 m on the edge of the Mercantour National Park, its galena (silver lead) and blende (zinc ore) deposits were mined as early as the 11th and 12th centuries.
Guided tours of the mine can be booked in advance.
It's essential to wear closed shoes and warm clothing (10°C in the mine). The visit is not recommended for people in poor health. Children may not be carried inside the mine.
