Rue Cavasse, 06110 Le Cannet
From Rue Cavasse to Rue Saint-Sauveur, take a stroll through the narrow streets and squares of Le Vieux-Cannet! You'll be seduced by this charming village, where you can explore Le Cannet's rich cultural, historical and artistic heritage.
Opposite the museum, cross Boulevard Sadi Carnot and take Rue Cavasse.
This cobbled, pedestrian street, formerly known as "rue des Marchés" then "avenue du square", took its name in 1868 to honor the memory of physician Auguste Cavasse, mayor of Le Cannet. This pleasant street is home to the 1900 villas designed by architect Stoecklin, where the whiteness of the stone stands out against the other materials. Thick walls, whitewashed renderings, cornices, Roman tiles and wrought-iron balconies all add to their charm.

At the bottom of the street, turn left into the shady Jardin de Tivoli alley.
At the end, you'll pass the Espace Bonnard, a former Evangelist chapel which, before the museum opened, hosted exhibitions dedicated to the painter.

Then follow rue de Cannes to the Tour des Danys. The work of the Lérins monks, built in the mid-16th century, it is Le Cannet's oldest surviving structure. Used to close off the entrance to the town, its door, now walled in, was three meters off the ground, requiring a ladder for access. Its roof - adorned with nine machicolations - and the scarcity of openings are reminders of its defensive nature.

Then return to the Tivoli garden and head for the Sainte-Catherine church and the Saint-Bernardin chapel, a venue for temporary exhibitions.
Return to boulevard Carnot and stop off at the town hall to visit the Salle Bellini. Five of the painter's works depicting the joie de vivre of Le Cannet are on display.

From here, rue des Prés - between the town hall and the Bonnard museum - leads to the historic heart of the town. As you go up, on your left is the Tour des Calvys, named after the 1st family from the Val d'Oneille to settle in Le Cannet in 1441. Then, on your right, in rue de la placette, the church of Sainte-Philomène opens its doors to reveal its Baroque jewels.

Joining rue Saint-Sauveur, you'll see on your right the chapel of Saint-Sauveur, Tobiasse's magnificent tribute to life, and opposite, the wall of lovers by Peynet, French illustrator and honorary citizen of Le Cannet.

Walk up the street to Place Bellevue, with its superb sea views, before admiring the Oranger du Patrimoine and the statue of Victorien Sardou. This bronze sculpture was created in 1985 by Manuel Linarès as a tribute to the great tragedian and illustrious descendant of one of Le Cannet's families. Turn right into rue des Calvys to discover its houses with false windows, before returning to rue Saint-Sauveur.

Go up this street to see the former town hall at 396, occupied until 1933, with its bell tower and clock. Continuing on, discover the Place des Paramideaux and its bastide houses arranged around a small square.

Then, on your way back down, take the winding rue des Voûtes, witness to an era when urban housing was tightly packed. Here, houses are built directly on large blocks of rough stone. Finally, take either rue Saint-Sauveur to find the Bonnard museum, or rue Victor Hugo to reach chemin Notre-Dame-des-Anges and its chapel.
