After the success of a first tribute paid in septet to Wayne Shorter, legendary jazz artist, the Nice Jazz Orchestra continues this jubilant reinterpretation by tackling the composer's later repertoire and in large formation.
Wayne Shorter, a jazz genius who passed away in August 2023, left his mark on his era, and his legacy remains present among today's composers and improvisers. To retrace his musical career, the NJO will explore the recent period of his musical life.
Two of the band's favorite artists will be invited: Sylvain Gontard and Ron Di Lauro, a central figure in Montreal jazz.
This is the first large-group tribute in France since the death of the famous American jazzman. The repertoire offered for these three dates will consist of arrangements of Wayne Shorter's compositions kindly loaned by the Orchestre National de Jazz de Montréal and original arrangements written for the occasion.
