Villa Arson welcomes the group XYZ, a transatlantic duo Los Angeles x Nice (electronic rock) and R. MUTT (electro) for an exceptional concert.
Their encounter is so explosive that it's better if thousands of kilometers separate them... Composed of Ian Svenonius (Escape-ism, Chain & the Gang, and the legendary Make-Up) on vocals and Memphis Electronic (the phenomenal Dum Dum Boys from Nice, both eternal teenagers and admired elders of the French rock scene) on fuzz guitars, drum machines, analog synths, and other strange little noises.
The result? Deviant and groovy glam, wild and sexy soul, deliberately garage-like new wave—in short, rock 'n' roll that's both primitive and modern! With the added bonus of "a cold, electro-freaky Francophone vibe"—as the Washington City Paper put it—which sees them regularly escape the indie and garage rock scenes for the hippest dancefloors. Comfortable anywhere, boring nowhere, their concerts electrify, electronica, and leave you stunned but happy.
After two LPs and a maxi-EP, they're about to release a new album with a completely new concept and ultra-original cover art. It's a stunning project halfway between Guy Debord and Bo Diddley, an album that manages to resuscitate a now-dying rock 'n' roll and bury it forever! Scholars and punks, dandies and jokers, intellectuals and trashy comic book characters, XYZ ticks all the boxes to charm all generations before the chaos.
"XYZ is like being stuck all night in a city you can't escape from and being totally cool about it." Vice
