Côte d'Azur: a land of jazz... and festivals!

Every year, the Côte d’Azur resounds to the sounds of jazz, soul, blues, rock and pop as international stars come to thrill audiences with their heady melodies. Here are the top jazz festivals not to be missed this summer!

The Jazz à Juan festival

At the dawn of the 1950s, it was thanks to the LP that the French discovered Duke Ellington and Sidney Bechet. Two sacred monsters of jazz who came to France to play in just two cities: Paris and Juan-les-Pins. Revolutionary for its time, the Jazz à Juan festival has welcomed the jazz pantheon since 1960: Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, George Benson and even Ray Charles, who gave his very first European concert there… It’s easy to see why Jazz à Juan is THE legendary festival on the Côte d’Azur!

In the eyes of stars from all over the world, the Gould pine forest is the image of what La Scala in Milan can represent for an opera artist. Gospel, blues, swing, be-bop, jazz-rock, modern jazz or electro-jazz, sacred monsters and rising stars deliver authentic jazz, with the Mediterranean Sea and its sunset in the background of each concert.

From 10 to 20 July 2025, artists will rock the seaside resort to the delight of festival-goers.

Le Nice Jazz fest’

The Nice Jazz Festival, renamed Nice Jazz Fest’, is set to be an exceptional event in 2025, celebrating its 77th anniversary with a varied programme that attracts jazz fans from all over the world.

Taking place from 24 to 27 July 2025, this iconic festival transforms the beautiful city of Nice into a dynamic stage where the mesmerising sounds of jazz, whether contemporary or classical, resonate. This edition will welcome both jazz legends and promising new talents, offering memorable performances in iconic venues such as the Théâtre de Verdure and Place Masséna.

As well as concerts, the festival will feature workshops, meetings with artists and exhibitions, making Nice Jazz Fest’ 2025 an unmissable event for music and culture enthusiasts.

Le Jazz à Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

From 17 to 19 July 2025, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin is establishing itself as a must-see summer venue on the Côte d’Azur thanks to two cultural highlights that combine music, nature and the gentle way of life. Throughout August, the festival “Cap sous les étoiles” invites visitors to magical evenings in the Cap-Martin park, with a varied programme that alternates concerts of contemporary music, French variety and comedy shows. The setting, between sea and pine trees, sublimates each performance and offers a unique experience, with your feet in the grass and your head under the stars.

In September, the atmosphere changes but the wonder remains with the eco-festival “La Note Verte”. Free and open to all, this event offers intimate concerts at sunrise and sunset, with a backdrop of jazz and Latin music. It’s a soothing, convivial atmosphere, highlighting artists committed to an environmentally-friendly approach. Two complementary events that brilliantly illustrate Roquebrune-Cap-Martin’s cultural, festive and sustainable identity.

The Jazz à Ramatuelle festival

38 years ago, the village postman was responsible for bringing jazz to Ramatuelle. The meeting of the “swing factor” with Guy Lafitte, the great French saxophonist, was a major turning point in what is now a “real” jazz festival! For the natural, soothing atmosphere of the Jardins du Théâtre provide a veritable space of serenity for artists on the French and international jazz scene, conducive to the most captivating melodic and vocal performances.

It’s clear, from 24 to 28 June 2025, the soul of jazz is being played out at the Jazz à Ramatuelle festival! Heterogeneous programming and crossbreeding music drive the jazz prodigies who present their albums between fierce energy and true gentleness. A magical atmosphere, five exceptional evenings, and all the soul of jazz to be savoured in an enchanting setting.

Not forgetting, the more intimate ones!

The most perched is undoubtedly the Peillon Jazz Festival! Considered one of the most beautiful perched villages, Peillon is hosting its second jazz festival. From 5 to 7 July 2025, no fewer than four evenings of jazz await you. Each of these evenings will feature 3 exceptional concerts by immensely talented artists.
