📅 All year
📍 Quai Laubeuf in Cannes
Set sail for the Lérins islands from the Laubeuf quay or the old port of Cannes, and head for Sainte-Marguerite island! After a fifteen-minute boat ride, you will arrive on the largest of the islands, with picture-postcard vistas. Scents from the umbrella pines and cedars greet your arrival on the wild island. In this protected environment, Le Batéguier pond is home to many migratory birds. If you take one of the botanical paths leading to the beaches, you will discover the main species of Mediterranean flora. The Royal Fort, built by Richelieu, is an incredible monument to explore. Historically used as a State prison, it is now home to the Museum of the Sea and displays undersea archaeological collections. The famous cell of the Man in the Iron Mask is also there. Why was this mysterious prisoner incarcerated for eleven years? Who was he? Can you solve the mystery?
