AN ANCESTRAL VINEYARD…
… WHICH DATES BACK TO ROMAN TIMES
A true love story between the village of St-Jeannet and vine growing during the Roman Empire. At that time mainly table grapes were grown. But any grapes that were not pretty enough to sell were turned into local wine.
The wine had a low alcohol content and didn’t keep for long. It was drunk by workmen throughout the day. One day, a merry roofer forgot his Jeanne wine bottle full of the precious liquid on the roof. He found it a few months later, tasted the wine and discovered it had improved in the sun.
