Destination Roubion :

5 good reasons to go on holiday in the mountains this summer

1. Roubion, the perfect escape between adventure and the gentle way of life

Clinging to the cliff like an eagle’s nest, Roubion quickly makes you forget the hustle and bustle of the coast. Here, the silence of the mountains, the stone lanes and the endless panoramas over the valleys envelop you in a feeling of freedom.

Between climbing on the rough rocks, via ferrata above the cliffs, downhill mountain biking or long hikes in the larch forests, every moment is an invitation to experience the mountains to the full.

Then it’s time to take it easy: a gourmet break in the village bistro, a visit to the church of Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel or a contemplative siesta overlooking the peaks.

Spending the summer in Roubion means savouring the perfect balance between nature, adventure and the slow-lifestyle art of living.

2. Outdoor activities for a sporting holiday

Are you looking for adventure in the great outdoors?

Roubion is the place to be. For the more adventurous, head for the Canyon du Moulin, an experience reserved for experts, with technical abseils and a 60-metre waterfall under a natural arch. If you prefer a more leisurely experience, Roubion-les-Buisses also has a mountain bike area, with nine trails served by chairlifts, from green to black. Electrically-assisted mountain bikes allow everyone, from beginners to experienced sportsmen and women, to enjoy the mountains at their own pace. As for the Bike Park de Roubion, it will be a happy place at weekends, bank holidays and bank holidays until the beginning of October. And for those who like to climb, the climbing site at the Grotte de la Balma or the Via Ferrata “Balma negra” await you a stone’s throw from the village, in a stunning setting. Hiking trails are also within easy reach, including the Circuit des Hameaux, Pin Pourri, Boucle de Vignols and Mont Gravière. Between waymarked trails, moderate gradients or more sporty routes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in this unspoilt corner of the mountains!

New for 2025: Roubion is innovating with virtual paragliding, a striking immersive experience that lets you fly over the Alpine valleys without leaving the village – thrills guaranteed! The Montaincarts also enhance the offer with a fun and original descent down the slopes, mixing sliding and giggles for all budding adventurers.

3. Roubion en famille: nature activities for young and old

At Roubion, family holidays take on a whole new flavour.

The adventure begins at La Petite Ferme, where children get to know the goats and donkeys, in a peaceful mountain setting. A natural and educational interlude, led by a passionate owner. For young climbing enthusiasts, there are around thirty specially adapted climbing routes for them to try out in complete safety, with friendly supervision.

Fancy a leisurely stroll? The Circuit des Hameaux offers two hours of gentle walking between ancient streets, the chapel of Saint-Sébastien and natural springs. Mountain bikers can also go at their own pace, thanks to ten free circuits starting from different points in the commune. In Roubion, you can discover the mountains together, taking the time to live, share and create beautiful memories in summer!

New in 2025: the mini-farm opens its doors to further enrich the family experience, while a permanent garage sale invites young and old to hunt for treasures between two walks. A fun way to discover the art of mountain recovery!

4. Rando Bistrot in Roubion: a gourmet experience in the mountains

If Roubion had a recipe, it would be one of simple happiness: walk, meet and enjoy!

From May to September, the Rando Bistrot take you on a discovery of pastoralism – this tradition of life in the mountains where man accompanies his herds between mountain pastures and valleys – but also of local produce and exceptional landscapes.

Guided by a guide, walkers cross the mountain pastures, meet a shepherd, visit a farm or a cheese dairy, and finish their walk over a good meal in a local bistro.

An original and tasty way to discover the mountains in a different way, with your feet on the trails and your taste buds on alert!

5. Discover an authentic village in the Alpes-Maritimes in summer

Enclosed by ramparts dating back to the Middle Ages and exceptional natural landscapes, Roubion is a village of character, steeped in history, that soothes as much as it inspires. Away from the hustle and bustle, this haven of peace perched in the heart of the Alpes-Maritimes invites you to slow down and savour the moment.

Gourmets will be delighted with the many inns that will appeal to lovers of local cuisine, and the Auberge Quintessence, recently awarded a Michelin star, and now a must-visit address offering a refined, sincere and tasty culinary experience.

At Roubion, the essential is experienced gently, in the discreet beauty of true things, with the simple desire in mind to return next summer.
