The village spirit of Cros-de-Cagnes

With its blue-shuttered fishermen’s houses, Cros-de-Cagnes is a gentle blend of tradition and modernity. In days gone by, the area became a thriving fishing port, and many Cagnois moved here to take part in this profitable trade. In 1866, the village was placed under the protection of Saint-Pierre, patron saint of abundance. A dedicated chapel was built, and today its ochre tones stand alongside water sports, beach restaurants and dynamic shopping.

Haut-de-Cagnes, a medieval jewel

Head for the hills to visit Château Grimaldi and its museum of modern art! The baroque-style ceilings and bright colours give the décor a typically Italian feel. The massive keep adorned with crenellations at the top of the ramparts overlooks the town, offering an exceptional panorama of the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps. The Musée du bijou contemporain (Museum of Contemporary Jewellery ) showcases traditional craftsmanship, while the Espace Solidor offers visitors the chance to discover a unique artistic movement through contemporary goldsmithing.

An artistic stroll through the Domaine des Collettes

Seeking the mildness of Mediterranean winters, Auguste Renoir settled at the Domaine des Collettes in 1907. The many centuries-old olive trees, umbrella pines and orange trees quickly gave shape to the artist’s many works. Located at the heart of the estate, the Musée Renoir bears witness to the world of the master Impressionist. The painter’s last home fascinates visitors with its authenticity and historic character, its original canvases and never-before-seen sculptures to discover on a stroll. During your visit, take the time to stroll through the Auguste Renoir garden.
