Autism: Art as a Means of Self-Expression

On this occasion, we would like to honor people on the autism spectrum and their families by giving them a voice and highlighting their talents, passions, and diverse ways of expressing themselves. Our goal is to demonstrate that art, in all its forms, can be a powerful means of communication, emotional expression, self-confidence, sharing, and well-being. On the program Morning: • a lecture on the connections between autism, sensory differences, art, and mental health • testimonials from people on the autism spectrum and caregivers, either in person or via video Afternoon: • a theatrical performance • an exhibition of artwork created by people on the autism spectrum and their caregivers • hands-on workshops (visual arts, dance, video games, etc.) • a collaborative art project to which everyone can contribute
