Autour de l'estampe exhibition at Chapelle Saint-Jean, May 22 to June 1 - an immersion in the world of printmaking through a variety of works - opening May 22 at 7pm.
La fête de l'estampe is a national event, a celebration of printed art. Every year, around May 26, artists, workshops, galleries and exhibition venues open their doors to let visitors discover the magic of etching, silkscreening, lithography and more... This event was created in 2013 by the national "manifestampe" federation, whose aim is to promote contemporary and heritage printmaking in all its forms. Here, for us, it's a member of the Assaga who has included various venues in the program for this festival: the Chapelle Saint-Jean, but also the Colibri, the Atelier Lefol in La Garde Freinet and the gallery "Le pôle unique" in Cogolin.
Why May 26? May 26 is the day of commemoration of the Edict of Saint-Jean de Luz of May 26, 1660, which established engraving as a free art.
