Description
Brigitte Bardot Beach (formerly Macé Beach) is the main public beach on the western stretch of the Croisette. It is located near the Majestic’s private beach.
Cannes City Council has named the beach after Brigitte Bardot, an icon of French cinema.
On Monday 18 May 2026, Cannes City Council will inaugurate Brigitte Bardot Beach, named after the unforgettable icon of world cinema and lifelong animal rights activist, who passed away on 28 December 2025 and whose artistic career remains closely linked to Cannes. One of the city’s most popular beaches, it hosts the annual open-air screenings of the Cinéma de la Plage, a must-see event of the Cannes Film Festival. On this occasion, the film *Viva Maria!*, directed by Louis Malle in 1965, will be screened free of charge in tribute to the actress.
Brigitte Bardot Beach will also be open to dogs outside the summer season, from 1 November to 1 May, in recognition of the lifelong campaign she waged for animal welfare through her Foundation.
