Description
Featuring two gems from his repertoire and concluding with his latest creation, Thierry Malandain celebrates “day and night, noon and midnight, and time slipping away in shadow.”
As he prepares to pass the artistic direction of his company to Martin Harriague, Thierry Malandain takes the audience through 25 years of creation in a dazzling final bouquet. This three-part program demonstrates the excellence of his work and mastery of a choreographic language intimately linked to music. While the classical vocabulary underpins each piece, Malandain blends it freely into multiple combinations.
Midi pile ou le Concerto du Soleil – recreation of a 1995 ballet set to Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos in D Minor. This “joyful dance feast” originally opened the first performance at the Centre Chorégraphique National de Biarritz in 1998.
Boléro – created in 2001 and reinterpreted for 22 dancers, Malandain’s version of Ravel’s iconic score demonstrates rhythmic and choreographic mastery.
Minuit et demi, ou Le Cœur Mystérieux – created 2025, featuring music by Camille Saint-Saëns, including the famous Danse Macabre, closes the triptych with emotional and inventive power.
