It is a private chapel in the Maglia valley. It was built in 1757 as can be seen on the cartouche on the façade. This Saint was a reformer of the Franciscans.
These rural chapels in Breil are among the many rural chapels with baroque decorations built in the Roya from the 17th century onwards, in the context of the Counter-Reformation.
These chapels, which were either collective initiatives or founded by a family, were scattered over the vast agricultural territory of the commune and allowed the celebration of services for the inhabitants of the district.
The small country chapels of the 17th and 18th centuries in Breil, which could sometimes pass for a casoun (farmhouse) because of the simplicity of their facades, systematically allowed a view of the altar from the outside when the chapel was closed, through windows with grilles framing the entrance door.
Their small nave is covered with masonry vaults, round or cross vaults. Some of them have retained their altar with a baroque altarpiece.
