Christos Papadopoulos - "My Fierce Ignorant Step"

Transforming movement into song and bodies into instruments, Christos Papadopoulos reconnects with the euphoric spirit of his Greek adolescence, inspired by the music of Mikis Theodorakis set to the poetry of Odysseas Elytis. In collaboration with composer Kornilios Selamsis, he constructs a choreographic and sonic landscape exuding an insatiable thirst for the present and unwavering confidence in the future. The ten performers, dressed in sober grey and blue attire, inhabit a sparse stage. From micro-gestures to running, stomping, and fiercely assertive steps—an allusion to the piece’s title—their vocabulary blends voguing and jazz styles. Breath becomes part of the electronic soundscape, and the precise synchronization of gestures, now the choreographer’s signature, emerges from the dancers’ desire to move together. Among them, Georgios Kotsifakis stands out as a commanding presence, leading the ensemble to a spectacular climax.
