Artists Anne-Elisabeth Dubin, Marie-Charlotte Michel, Gabriel Tabournel, Juline Doisne, and Mathieu Lorry-Dupuy present installations, ceramics, and drawings that reflect the many facets of a salt crystal.
The “Cristal Intime” exhibition will be on view at the Salin des Pesquiers in Hyères from September 12 to 20, 2026. Curated by Ronan de la Croix, the exhibition brings together five artists around an element that is inextricably linked to the history and landscape of the Salins: salt.
Through installations, drawings, ceramics, textiles, photographs, and salt-based creations, Anne-Élisabeth Dubin, Gabriel Tabournel, Juline Doisne, Marie-Charlotte Michel, and Mathieu Lorry-Dupuy each offer their own interpretation of this material. The exhibition takes place in the former Magasin du Salin des Pesquiers, transformed into an immersive space where the works engage with the site’s history and its industrial past.
The exhibition focuses in particular on crystallization, a natural phenomenon that here becomes a means of exploring time, transformation, and memory. Some pieces were placed directly in contact with the salt marshes so that salt would gradually deposit itself on textiles, ropes, or ceramics.
Throughout the visit, the works invite visitors to slow down and observe this familiar material in a new light. Salt appears in turn as a trace of the landscape, a witness to the passage of time, or even a link between human beings and their environment. The exhibition also addresses the fragility of natural environments and the changes affecting the balance between freshwater and saltwater.
“Cristal Intime” thus offers a sensory exploration of the Salin des Pesquiers, at the intersection of contemporary art, heritage, and nature, where salt becomes both a medium for creation and an invitation to reflect on our relationship with the living world.
