Performed by the wonderful Antje Weithaas, two pieces by Beethoven cast the violin in a special light.

The marvellous Antje Weithaas reveals her artistry in these two pages of Beethoven's work dedicated to the violin. The Concerto Op. 61, unprecedented in scope for its time, advances with calm assurance, while Romance No. 2, brief and full of restrained eloquence, shows another side of the composer. Haydn's Symphony No. 99 displays the art of orchestral theatre. Sovereign energy, surprising textures, attention to detail... Proof that classicism has nothing to envy romanticism! I:99 (1793) Don’t miss the meet-and-greet with Holly Hyun Choe after the performance!
