Description
To demonstrate historical fidelity, the programme opens and closes with works by Beethoven from before his ‘great heroic period’.
Beethoven's Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 reveal two complementary facets. One emphasises momentum and rhythmic invention, while the other focuses more on lively
dialogue and the art of surprise. Pianist Aristo Sham, gold medallist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, will draw on his virtuosity and sensitivity to bring these works to life.
Between these two milestones, Mozart's Symphony No. 30 offers an ideal counterpoint: elegant structure, restrained theatricality, and mastery of timbre.
