Description
Cymande is the most important black British band of its generation, a band whose notes many people have heard, but few have heard of.
Born in London in the early 1970s, the band's music blends funk, calypso, rhythm'n'blues, soul and reggae. Their compositions are strongly inspired by the Rastafari movement. A veritable mix of genres. The group's legacy is still alive and well, and can be heard in contemporary hip-hop via samples of their greatest hits. A true model of inspiration for several generations of musicians (De la Soul, Fugees, MC Solaar).
