Combining the delicacy of French court music with the expressive intensity of Italian song, this program offers a musical journey to the heart of the 17th century. In the intimate dialogue between the soprano voice and the lute, works by Lambert, Charpentier, Caccini, Strozzi, and Monteverdi reveal the full richness of human passions, where every word and every note becomes emotion. Composed of musicians and singers from the Alpes-Maritimes region, the Ensemble de la Société de Musique Ancienne has established itself since 1992 as a leading authority in the interpretation of 16th-, 17th-, and 18th-century repertoires. Its flexible ensemble structure allows it to explore the full diversity of chamber music from this era. Committed to performing works on period instruments, its musicians combine historical accuracy with a lively, sensitive, and authentic interpretation. As the resident orchestra of the Centre Culturel de La Providence, managed by La Semeuse, the ensemble also presents concerts and outreach programs designed to introduce audiences—particularly young people—to early music and period instruments.
