Bernard, a lawyer, and Jacqueline, a dentist, decide to separate. However, both run their practices from the family home, and neither is willing to give up their space. By mutual agreement, the couple decide to divide the flat into two equal parts. This imaginary boundary, running down the middle of the shared living room, will be marked by a red ribbon laid across the sofa.
