Bernard, a lawyer, and Jacqueline, a dentist, decide to separate. However, both have their practices at the couple’s home, and neither is willing to give up the space.

Bernard, a lawyer, and Jacqueline, a dentist, decide to separate. However, both have their practices in the couple’s home, and neither is willing to give up their space. By mutual agreement, the couple decides to divide the apartment into two equal parts. This imaginary boundary, running down the middle of the shared living room, will be marked by a red ribbon draped over the sofa. Of course, the former spouses have no qualms about moving on with their lives. But their cohabitation promises to be tumultuous. Fortunately, a clever and ever-present servant comes up with a host of solutions to resolve their problems. A delightful comedy full of misunderstandings and twists and turns—a classic of boulevard theater by the best-selling author of *Boeing Boeing*.
