A concert for all ages set in the heart of the French Grand Siècle, featuring the viola da gamba.

At the heart of France’s Grand Siècle, the viola da gamba reigned supreme in royal salons and apartments. From the contemplative depth of Sainte-Colombe, the incomparable elegance of Marin Marais, the finesse of Morel, and the virtuosic audacity of Forqueray, this program traces the history of an instrument that became one of the most beautiful voices of the French Baroque, elevated by its intimate dialogue with the harpsichord. Production: Ensemble de la Société de Musique Ancienne (professionals). Violas da gamba: Sibylle Schuetz-Carrière and Victor Aragon. Harpsichord: Céline Hyerlé. Several educational activities (masterclasses, meetings with viola da gamba classes, and joint recitals) will be organized around this concert. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes.
