Description
OPENING: Thursday 5 November, 6pm – 9pm
The artist draws us into a vibrant and poetic pictorial world. Straddling reality and the imagination, her water gardens evoke a nature that is free, mysterious and in a state of perpetual transformation.
Galerie L’ATELIER is delighted to invite you to the opening of Jean-François Gaulthier’s exhibition *JARDINS AQUATIQUES*.
Through lush compositions in which plant forms, light and colour intertwine, the artist draws us into a vibrant and poetic pictorial world. Straddling reality and the imagination, his aquatic gardens evoke a nature that is free, mysterious and in a state of perpetual metamorphosis.
THE ARTIST
Born in 1971 into a family of Breton painters, Jean-François Gaulthier exhibits in France and internationally, notably in Paris, Monaco, Osaka in Japan and Potsdam in Germany. Winner of the first prize for painting at the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild in 2010, he also took part in an artist’s residency in Xi’an, China, in 2018.
Inspired by nature, light and a rich palette of colours, his painting explores the boundaries between figuration and the imagination.
